The first exhibition of collector’s books at DOX by Qubus serves as both a manifesto for the inclusion of bibliophilic editions in the DOX by Qubus collection and the launch of a collaboration with the Teapot publishing house. The exhibition presents seven selected bibliophilic titles from Teapot's collection, displayed in a site-specific installation designed for this space and tailored to each book. Conceptual artist Tereza Brichtová contributed to the exhibition’s visual design, creating vibrant paper structures within the display cases, which serve as a framework for showcasing not only the books themselves but also a selection of functional objects accompanying each title.

Exhibited Titles:
Franz Kafka, Petr Nikl: The Metamorphosis (2016)
Václav Havel, Štefan Tóth: Anticodes (2015)
Pierre-Henri Cami, Jiří Slíva: The Snail Tamer (2022)
Vratislav Effenberger, Jan Švankmajer: The Brewers' Rebellion (2019)
Eva Havlová: The Foresight Tarot (2019)
Karel Čapek, Tereza Hradilková (Porigami): The Absolute at Large (2022)
Jiří David, Jiří Kovanda: I Hope I Go Crazy (2022)

Teapot’s bibliophilic editions are released in limited runs, printed on high-quality paper, and feature distinctive graphic and typographic designs. Each book is created in collaboration with a different artist. The exhibition also includes a previously unpublished title by Jiří David and Jiří Kovanda, I Hope I Go Crazy.

In the philosophy of Teapot publishing, a collector’s book is an artistic artifact and a testament to the harmony and unity of craftsmanship and the arts that come together in each edition. The goal is to provide a visual experience through the seamless integration of text with illustrations, innovative and expressive typography, fine paper, luxurious printing, and exquisite binding. Teapot’s works are released as individually numbered collector’s pieces, signed by the author. Bibliophilic books are addictive, and acquiring them often becomes a passion for book lovers.

This exhibition is a unique opportunity to explore the world of bibliophilia. Visitors can browse the books on display—while wearing gloves.

About Teapot
The Teapot publishing house specializes in the publication of bibliophilic books and was founded in 1990 under the name Bonaventura by renowned Czech publisher Vladimír Beneš. Since 2013, it has operated under the name Teapot, while Bonaventura remains the title of its flagship series dedicated to significant Czech literary works. In addition, Teapot publishes the smaller-format Teacup series, which offers a more diverse and playful selection of international and Czech literature across various genres.

This exhibition is part of the Exhibitions for Passing Viewers series, held at DOX by Qubus with the aim of broadening visitors’ horizons as they explore the gallery store.

The curators drew inspiration from the Books Are Difficult to Exhibit cycle.
